Comment | This model describes one of a pair of radical SAM enzymes involved in the alternative heme biosynthesis (ahb) pathway for heme b biosynthesis from siroheme. This anaerobic pathway occurs in sulfate-reducing bacteria and methanogens. A very similar pair of radical SAM enzymes (TIGR04054, TIGR04055) is involved in heme d1 biosynthesis in species such as Heliobacillus mobilis and Heliophilum fasciatum. |
