Comment | Members of this protein family are 2-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde dehydrogenase. Many aromatic compounds are catabolized by way of the catechol, via the meta-cleavage pathway, to pyruvate and acetyl-CoA. This enzyme performs the second of seven steps in that pathway for catechol degradation. |
