| Comment | This model represents an enzyme, naphthoate synthase (dihydroxynaphthoic acid synthetase), which is involved in the fifth step of the menaquinone biosynthesis pathway. Together with o-succinylbenzoate-CoA ligase (menE: TIGR01923), this enzyme takes 2-succinylbenzoate and converts it into 1,4-di-hydroxy-2-naphthoate. Included above the trusted cutoff are two enzymes from Arabadopsis thaliana and one from Staphylococcus aureus which are identified as putative enoyl-CoA hydratase/isomerases. These enzymes group with the naphthoate synthases when building a tree and when doing BLAST searches. |
