CommentThis protein had been believed to be a singlet oxygen resistance protein. Subsequent work showed that it is a protein of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) biosynthesis, and that pyridoxine quenches the highly toxic singlet form of oxygen produced by light in the presence of certain chemicals.
